Cell protection through malic acid - scientifically confirmed

We are pleased to share another scientific achievement: Our latest study, published in the renowned MDPI journal Beverages, impressively demonstrates the cell-protecting effect of drinking water treated with L-malic acid. In a biological test system, it was shown that so-called EMAD water, our specially developed malic acid-based water, significantly reduces oxidative stress in cells. This opens up new perspectives in functional water treatment.

Antioxidant effect independent of gene status

Tests were carried out on yeast cells with and without a functioning antioxidant defense system. Result: Cell viability doubled with EMAD water compared to the oxidatively stressed control group. Particularly noteworthy: The effect occurred regardless of the genetic status of the cells, an indication of a direct chemical protective effect of the malate ions.

Take the test

Convince yourself of our unique limescale protection with a simple self-test. All you need is a kettle or a pan. Maximum limescale protection, no change in taste.

Protection on several levels

The study not only shows a significant reduction in cell-damaging superoxide anions by around 71%, but also a normalization of lipid peroxidation and a significant restoration of antioxidant glutathione levels. EMAD water therefore protects cells on several molecular levels - a rarity in the field of drinking water treatment.

Clear figures, clear impact

+100 % cell survival under oxidative stress

−71 % Superoxid-Anionen, die als besonders zellschädlich gelten<

-33 % lipid peroxidation (MDA) - protection against membrane damage

+200 % glutathione level in wild-type cells - a key antioxidant

Independent of the YAP1 signaling pathway - the effect is based on a direct chemical mechanism through malate ions

These results underline the innovative approach of our malic acid technology, scientifically sound and with real added health benefits.

More than just descaling

This research proves that our malic acid technology can do far more than just remove limescale. It demonstrably improves the antioxidant capacity of the water, a clear advantage over conventional descaling systems.
