Germs in drinking water: people must boil water

People in parts of the district of Bayreuth have to boil their drinking water due to germ contamination. If the water is used for drinking or cooking, it must be boiled for ten minutes "as a precautionary measure", the Bayreuth district office announced on Monday. The tap water can still be used for personal hygiene and flushing the toilet. The health authority has ordered the chlorination of the contaminated drinking water.
